About our School

Roc et Glace climbing School offer a large selection of climbing courses from discovery to full autonomy lead climbing, whatever your actual level of climbing. Our guides graduated from L’Association des Guides de la Montagne d’Argent, the AGMA, an association affiliated with Aventure Écotourisme Québec, the AEQ.

Our rock and ice climbing courses are located in the Laurentians region in the Tremblant area, at the well known rock and ice climbing site of Montagne d’Argent  in La Conception.

Steve Traversari

Guide

Steve has been climbing since 1996.  He is passionate for long trad routes, ice climbing and alpine objectives.  When not climbing himself Steve stays connected to outdoor climbing through his involvement with the Montreal Section of The Alpine Club of Canada. Steve was president of the Section from 2010-2015 and is currently an outings leader as well as Leadership and Courses coordinator. Steve is also involved with innovative climbing products.
Certifications: ENEQ, FQME and AGMA

Enjoy a full day of rock climbing with constant surprises and discovery of your abilities. This introduction to the practice of rock climbing is done safely. You will attend a presentation of basic equipment and will learn the method for belaying your partner. You will also receive tips on climbing technique to make upward progress with ease.

AUTONOMY ON ROCK

Top-Roping autonomy of Rock climbing with Roc et Glace climbing

Rock climbing and Ice climbing ROC et GLACE

This course is ideally applicable to those who already climb top-rope in an indoor environment. In this course you will learn the techniques for becoming autonomous for setting up top ropes for outdoor rock climbing. This will consist of review of material and equipment, building safe anchors , knots and rappel techniques. An introduction to self rescue can also be provided based on the participants’ need.
A course outline as well as a summary of the course highlights will be provided to you.

Pre requisite
At least one day of discovery rock climbing or equivalent experience in gym.

Duration
One to two days depending on your actual skills.

LEAD CLIMBING
SPORT ROUTES

Rock climbing and Ice climbing ROC et GLACE

You want to get started on sport routes, or you lead climb in gym and want to go outside on sunny days, learning to lead on outdoor sport routes is the next step. You will learn how to build safe belays, climb placing your quickdraws on fixed anchors, master knots and their applications, belay a second and a lead climber from the belay and master rappelling to the ground. You will also see some self-rescue techniques.
A course outline as well as a summary of the course highlights will be provided to you.

Pre requisite
You climb easily top-roping at 5.8 level outdoor or indoor, or already lead climb in gym.

TRAD ROUTES

You are now ready for full autonomy! This course will permit you to explore the best routes here and abroad. You will learn installation techniques of protection, construction of belays, knots and their applications, management of multi-pitch routes, the fall factor, the impact force and basic self-rescue.

Pre requisite
You easily climb routes at 5.8 top-roping.

Duration
3 to 4 days, according on your previous experience.

In this course you will learn the skills for various types of belays for the installation of a safe top-rope for ice climbing, knots and their applications, rappelling and characteristics of the basic material and equipment used. You will also learn to build anchors with ice screws and the basic self-rescue skills. This course is ideal for people who already top-rope in gym and want to climb ice outdoors.

At least one day of discovery ice climbing or equivalent experience.

Lead climbing ice with Roc et Glace climbing

Rock climbing and Ice climbing ROC et GLACE

Learn how to climb multi-pitch ice routes. Discover all the tricks of the trade of placing protection on ice, among other things with ice screws. Develop techniques and attitudes to save your energy.

Climbing at WI 4+ level top-roping.

Rates are established on a daily basis BASED ON THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS.

What is included
Courses includes the access fees to the climbing site and all the aprooved climbing equipments (helmets, harnesses, ropes, belays, ice-axes, belay devices etc…).

What is not included
Rock climbing shoes or boots and crampons for ice climbing, but they are available on the site for rental, assuming we have your shoe size available.

Activity length
Usualy courses take a whole day starting at 8:30 AM up to 4:30 PM.

Students
Rates are the same but rock shoes or boot rental is free.

  1. Definition of Family : one adult + two children under 14 OR two adults + one children under 14. Additional children add $ 50.00 each.
