OUR SCHOOL

A secure experience, adapted to your climbing level.

From discovery to total autonomy free climbing, we offer courses tailored to your experience and goals.

The instructors are licensed by the Association des Guides de la Montagne d’Argent (AGMA). The AGMA is an organization affiliated with Aventure Écotourisme Québec, the AEQ.

Our courses are mainly given in the Laurentian region close to Mont-Tremblant at the renowned site of Montagne d’Argent. Check out our selection of packages and contact us to set up a lesson plan tailored to your level. Take note that it is possible for climbers to camp on the site of the Montagne d’Argent. Cabins are also available if you prefer.

Experience a day filled with surprises discovering your abilities? This introduction to the practice of rock climbing is done safely. You will attend a presentation of basic equipment and will learn the method for belaying your partner. You will also receive tips on how to move on the rock with ease.

Rock Climbing Autonomy on TOP-ROPE

You have been introduced to climbing outside or inside and now you want to become autonomous top-roping? In this course you will learn the skills for various types of belays for the installation of a safe top-rope, knots and their applications, rappel techniques and characteristics of the basic material and equipment used. As an introduction to self-rescue techniques you will explore escaping a belay from the ground and ascending ropes. This course is ideal for people who already top-rope at an indoor climbing gym and want to climb outside.

Pre requisite
At least one day of initiation or equivalent experience.

Duration
One to two days depending on your actual skills.

You want to get started on sport routes, or you lead climb in gym and want to go outside on sunny days, learning to lead on outdoor sport routes is the next step. You will learn how to build safe belays, climb placing your quickdraws on fixed anchors, master knots and their applications, belay a second and a lead climber from the belay and master rappelling to the ground. You will also see some self-rescue techniques.

Pre requisite
You climb easily top-roping at 5.8 level outdoor or indoor, or already lead climb in gym.

You are now ready for full autonomy! This course will permit you to explore the best routes here and abroad. You will learn installation techniques of protection, construction of belays, knots and their applications, management of multi-pitch routes, the fall factor, the impact force and basic self-rescue.

Pre requisite
You easily climb routes at 5.8 top-roping.

Duration
3 to 4 days, according on your previous experience.

All rates are on a daily basis BASED ON THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS.

All taxes are included. Rates include access fee to the site and all approved equipments (helmet, harnesses, ropes, belay, belay devices, ice axes, crampons etc.)
Only the ice climbing boots and rock climbing shoes are not included but available on a daily basis for rental.

Discover Ice Climbing with Roc et Glace

Enjoy a full day of ice climbing with constant surprises and discovery of your abilities. This introduction to the practice of ice climbing is done safely. You will attend a presentation of basic equipment and will learn the method for belaying your partner. You will also receive tips on ice climbing technique to make upward progress with ease. If you don’t own climbing boots, rentals are available on site for most sizes.

Ice Climbing Autonomy on TOP-ROPE

Lead Climbing on ICE

Learn how to climb multi-pitch ice routes. Discover all the tricks of the trade of placing protection on ice, among other things with ice screws. Develop techniques and attitudes to save your energy.

Pre requisite
Climbing at WI 4+ level top-roping.

Duration

Luc has been rock climbing and ice climbing for more than twenty years. He is president of the AGMA the Association des guides d’escalade de la Montagne d’Argent. Treasurer of the Laurentian Section of the Alpine Club of Canada and member of the board of the P.E.R.M.A. Parc d’escalade et de randonnée de la Montagne d’Argent.

Guide

Steve has been climbing since 1996.  He is passionate for long trad routes, ice climbing and alpine objectives.  When not climbing himself Steve stays connected to outdoor climbing through his involvement with the Montreal Section of The Alpine Club of Canada. Steve was president of the Section from 2010-2015 and is currently an outings leader as well as Leadership and Courses coordinator. Steve is also involved with innovative climbing products.
